New Model Review
SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE NEW GENERATION TUFF JUG VS THE OLD TUFF JUG
So what really is the difference between our Generation 2 Tuff Jug and our Generation 3 Tuff Jug? We've heard your phone calls, received your emails, and want to go over the key differences today.
The most obvious difference is the aesthetics. We’ve completely redesigned the jug to make it sleeker, faster, and better performing. We’ve added wings, plating at the bottom, and a new handle design—all based on feedback from you.
New View Strip for Better Visibility
One major upgrade is the view strip. The new jug includes a view strip so you can easily see the fluid level, no matter the color of your jug. This is a huge benefit anytime you need to check how much fluid is left.
Improved Cap Design for Better Grip
We’ve reduced the total cap dimension to make it more ergonomic, making it easier to grip, even while wearing gloves. We’ve also doubled the protrusion distance, providing more traction and grip when unscrewing the cap.
Upgraded Spout Fitting for Faster Flow
Inside the jug, we’ve made improvements as well. The old jug had a ¾-inch NPT fitting for the spout, while the new jug features a 1-inch NPT fitting. This allows for a faster flow rate.
Enhanced Sealing System to Prevent Leaks
We’ve upgraded the sealing system—moving from a flat seal to a beveled seal. This new design ensures a tight seal in all conditions, eliminating leaks even if there are small nicks or dings.
Stronger Bottom Seam for Durability
Looking at the bottom seams, you’ll notice the difference between the Gen 2 and Gen 3 models. The old jug had a flat seam seal, while the new one has a button seam seal, providing superior durability and leak protection.
Multi-Layer Construction for Longevity
The jug’s construction has also changed. The Gen 2 model was a single-layer plastic jug, while the Gen 3 model is a multi-layer jug, improving strength and durability. We've also refined our manufacturing process to control plastic thickness in key stress areas, ensuring a longer lifespan.
New Labeling with Smart Stop Indicator
On the front of the new jug, you’ll notice updated labeling, including a "Smart Stop" indicator. This means the jug will automatically stop pouring when the fluid reaches the bottom of the spout.
Same Great Handle Location
The handle location remains the same because, after testing, we found it to be the best placement available for utility jugs.
Faster Pour, Zero Spill
We’ve maintained the "Fastest Fill, Zero Spill" feature but improved the pour speed while keeping the Auto Stop functionality.
These upgrades are all based on your feedback, and we’d love to hear your thoughts. Hopefully, you love the new Gen 3 Tuff Jug as much as we do!
